Cystocele and Rectocele
Introduction
The bulge from rectum wall into the vagina is called rectocele.
Bladder prolapse is also called cystocele.
What are symptoms of cystocele and rectocele?
- Urinary incontinence
- Frequency of urine
- Excretion of urine
- Vagina prolapse
- Constipation
- Back and pelvic pain
Overweighting, chronic cough, and hard childbearing are the main causes of cystocele and rectocele.
Performing revision surgery, is the main treatment of the problem.
Before the surgery,
- Patients should eat soup night before the surgery.
- Bowel and vagina is washed to reduce infection.
- Patients should take a bath and remove the hair on perinea, which reduces infection.
- Day of the surgery, urinary catheter is inserted.
- If you any problem or diseases, should inform your surgeon, in some cases, you should give up using some drugs.
After performing surgery, lack of movement can cause blood coagulation on legs and then increases the risk of lung infection, so, patients should do breathing exercises and leg movements, immediately after surgery.
Cystocele and rectocele surgery is done under local or general anesthesia.
Recommendations after cystocele and rectocele surgery
Patients should not eat meals first day after the surgery. Then, start your meal with water and liquids and then use other food. Using fresh vegetables and fruits, and drinking liquids prevents from constipation and pressure of the sutures.
