Labiaplasty , is a plastic surgery of labia to change shape and size of labia. This surgery is for removal excess and floppy skin of labia that cause irritation, pain during sexual intercourse and feel discomfort in their activities. Labia may be enlarged by genetics, or during childbirth and process of aging. And also labia can grow with estrogen stimulation at puberty and pregnancy. Amputation, is the original method as the surgeon cuts the labia minora down to a smaller size with either a scalpel or laser.
- Wedge technique:
In this method, the natural edge remains and the excess tissue of labia is removed.
- De-epithelialization technique:
In this method, a portion of the central labia is removed while preserving the leading edge.

Post- operative care of labiaplasty
- Applying cool moist compresses for the first 2 days.
- Using Tetracycline ointment for the first 2 days.
- Avoiding exercise for the first 3 weeks.
- Having no sexual intercourse for 1 mounth.
Labiaplasty is an outpatient procedure usually performed under local anesthesia.
Labiaplasty doesn’t have much pain, and because of high blood circulation, have short-term convalescence.
So, labiaplasty is for removal excess and floppy labia minora (smaller interior vaginal lips) that often cause irritation and discomfort during sexual intercourse.
