pelvic inflammatory disease
Pelvic inflammatory disease or PID, is an infection in women’s reproductive system, which is seen I women under 24.
Some symptoms of PID are as:
– Heavy vaginal discharges
– Pain during urine
– Abnormal uterine bleeding
– Pain in lower belly or pelvis
– Pain during sex
– Fever
PID, can cause severe and serious problems, if it is not treated.
Causes
Various types of bacteria can cause pelvic inflammatory disease, but gonorrhea and chlamydia are the most common. Chlamydia is a sexual disease that should be treated. Most of the bacteria are acquired during unprotected sexual intercourse.
Using septic equipment can cause PID.
How to prevent pelvic inflammatory disease?
To prevent this disease, it’s better to have continual visiting a gynecologist. Treatment of sexual diseases can prevent or even reduce risk of pelvic inflammatory disease.
See your doctor if you experience any following symptoms:
– Spotting between periods
– Smelly discharge
– Abnormal scars
– Severe pain in abdomen
– Nausea and vomiting
Women with PID may experience problems such as: ectopic pregnancy, infertility, chronic pelvic pain and tubo- ovarian abscess.
Pelvic inflammatory disease treatment
– Antibiotics. Consuming antibiotic is the most effective treatment way. In severe inflammation, venous infection of antibiotic is recommended.
– Treatment of your partner.
– Avoid sexual intercourse until treatment is completed.
In some cases, such as when a woman is pregnant or have a weakened immune system, hospitalization is needed.
