Most women worry about the spotting between periods. Is it dangerous?
If you have continuous spotting, you should refer a gynecologist to treat the problem. Low amount of spotting is not so serious. But continuous spotting, is a sign of new problem and disease.
In some cases, spotting between periods due to the genital problem, is dangerous, so it should treat as soon as possible.
A normal menstrual lasts 4-7 days a month. (each 28 days). Bleeding more than 8 days, is not normal and women should refer a doctor.
Bleeding before menstrual or after that is called spotting, that can be slight or severe. Spotting between periods in not a common problem. Women should use tampon to ensure about the vaginal bleeding.
Spotting occurs due to the decreasing estrogen level during ovulation. But having spotting 5 days before menstrual is not dangerous.
Spotting between periods occurs for many reasons such as: stress, mental and physical pressures and decreasing progesterone between periods.
Women who have uterine disorders or excess tissue due to the benign polyps, will experience continuous spotting between periods.
Spotting causes
Some causes of spotting between periods are as follows:
- Stress and anxiety
- Medication changes
- Vaginal dryness
- Cancers (uterine cancer, vaginal cancer, ovarian cancer)
- Pregnancy
- Uterine fibroids
- Infections
- Diabetes
- Thyroid problems (hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism)
- Pelvic organ inflammation (which results in inflammation and infection of fallopin tube, uterus and ovaries, and finally leads to spotting between periods)
- Weight changes
- Using IUDs or trauma to vaginal walls
If you’ve started taking the birth control pill/ contraceptive pills or gotten a progesterone implant, it’s not unusual to experience irregular bleeding. If spotting doesn’t taper off, talk to your doctor.
When you first start having your period, it may be quite irregular for months or even years. This is because your brain, ovaries, and uterus are still working on.
Spotting color
Spotting color can be dark brown, dark red or pink. Remaining blood for a long time in the uterine, results in black blood, and you see black spotting between periods.
Women should care about their genital health to prevent further problems. Take spotting between periods as a serious tissue.
