Women experience menstrual period. Most women have painful cramps before and during the menstrual, these are the symptoms of entering to menstrual. Now, we consider the menstrual cramps, causes and symptoms.
Menstrual cramps are known as period pains. These pains start 2 or 7 days before menstrual and then fade after bleeding. In fact, these pains are symptoms are called, premenstrual syndrome or PMS. Women should consult with a gynecologist.
What are the causes of menstrual cramps?
Female hormones such as Estrogen and Progesterone affect on the menstrual cramps and pains. Moreover, healthy diet and exercising and tension, affect on the pains.
Some of the causes are as following:
- Age
- Heredity
- Life style
- Metabolic changes of carbohydrates
- Blood sugar fall
- Increasing prolactin
Estrogen has its high level before ovulation. As mentioned before, menstrual cramps occur before the menstrual period and those who don’t have ovulation, won’t have the menstrual cramps.
Menstrual cramps symptoms
Psychological and physical factors affect on the menstrual cramps. Women feel pain on their different parts of their body, or may have depression feeling or irritability.
This condition has different symptoms and vary from one individual to the other one.
But the most common symptoms are as following:
- Poor concentration
- Depression
- Insomnia
- Vomiting
- Nausea
- Diarrhea
- Abdominal bloating
- Weight gain
- Muscle pain
- Skin dryness
