Introduction
Amenorrhea, is lack of menstruation which is seen before the puberty age or after menopause. There are 2 types of amenorrhea, primary and secondary.
Primary amenorrhea occurs in girls who are under the sixteen and before menstruation.
Causes of primary amenorrhea
- Ovarian disorders
Ovaries are responsible of ovulation. So, ovarian disorder can disturb the menstrual period.
- Nervous system disorders
Disorder of some glands such as pituitary gland, or glands in brain and nervous system disturb the menstrual period.
Secondary amenorrhea occurs in women who have missed menstrual period for few months.
Causes of secondary amenorrhea
- Lactation
- Pregnancy
- Aging
- Menopause
